The complex nature of human trafficking calls for coordinated efforts and cooperation among governments, international organizations and other stakeholders. UN.GIFT has identified Joint Programmes as a powerful means to assist countries in tackling human trafficking, drawing on the specific expertise of each of its partners.
Joint Programming is a collective effort through which UN organizations and national partners work together to carry out activities aimed at helping member states achieve the Millennium Development Goals and other international commitments. It helps make UN support for the attainment of national goals more coherent, effective, and efficient. Joint Programmes also seek to respond to the wishes of donors and recipients to enhance the UN contribution to international development assistance, with a focus on self-reliance, sustainability and capacity-building.
