The Free the Slaves Freedom Awards are on track!
It´s time to nominate heroes for these prestigious human rights honors. The deadline to receive completed nomination forms is May 16, 2011.
Freedom Awards are open to individuals who are working to eradicate human trafficking and modern slavery, and to slavery survivors who are now helping others. The awards ceremony will celebrate the vision and courage of community-based organizations, survivors of slavery, individual leaders and anti-slavery volunteers who are showing the way to a world without slavery.
Two awards will be given to individuals who have survived a form of slavery and are now using their lives in freedom to help others. These awards are named the Frederick Douglass Awards .
One award will be given to an individual who has moved a major institution, government, business or large groups of people to significant action to fight slavery. This award is named the William Wilberforce Award.
Please help by making a nomination. Please also pass along this information to anyone who might be able to nominate suitable individuals. Self-nominations are also welcome.
