UN.GIFT offers training for Public Prosecutors in Mexico
A training workshop carried out by UN.GIFT and UNODC opened in Mexico City with the presence of the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico City, Judge Egdar Elias, and the Attorney General of Mexico City, Mr. Miguel Mancera, amongst other high-level officials from Mexico City's government.
The workshop on human trafficking was designed to improve the capabilities of local officials involved in the detection of victims of trafficking, investigation and prosecution cases, as well as the judging and sentencing process. The training modules were based upon the UN.GIFT/UNODC First Aid for Use by Law Enforcement Responders in Addressing Human Trafficking Toolkit.
Experts from different UN organizations such as UNODC, UNICEF and UNHCHR led the different training modules. The participants included more than 40 officials from different institutions of the local governments such as the Ministry of Public Security, the Human Right's Commission and the Supreme Court of Justice.
