Friends race in Sri Lanka to raise money for trafficking victims
Three Austrian friends would do almost anything to help victims of human trafficking. This summer they are racing a tuk tuk (or auto riksha) across Sri Lanka to raise funds that will benefit local organizations working to end human trafficking.
The three young women are getting ready to traverse the spicy island of Sri Lanka and awaiting to explore the East and less travelled North. Their team is named "The Sound of Tuk Tuk" and it will be competing on the Lanka Challenge 2011, a 12 day journey race covering 1,500 km's in a two-stroke powered tuk-tuk across the beautiful island of Sri Lanka.
The objective is to raise money for social projects aimed at supporting victims of human trafficking. These projects will reach the Tamil speaking communities and will be employed to support initiatives of local NGO's.
The "Sound of Tuk Tuk" team will dedicate this adventurous challenge to the victims of human trafficking in Sri Lanka and hopes to get everybody's support in raising funds to support victims.
