New anti-trafficking online resource available: the portal Freedom Without Borders
A new resource against human trafficking is available online. Freedom Without Borders, or Libertad Sin Fronteras, is an online portal established by the First Lady of the Dominican Republic, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, featuring articles, news and publications about human trafficking. The website represents an important contribution to the worldwide efforts to increase knowledge and awareness about trafficking, in particular in the Spanish language context.
The launch of the portal took place during the 61 st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. At the event, UNODC Executive Director, Yury Fedotov, emphasized the importance of working together to eradicate the global problem of human trafficking, "It is only through working together from the community-level right through to the international arena that we can break this crime and put an end to human trafficking."
Mr. Fedotov also highlighted the importance of the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking and the UN.GIFT.HUB, which is also featured on the new portal, Freedom Without Borders.
