Conference to address human trafficking for organ removal
The black market for organs and body parts is flourishing in many parts of the world. The World Health Organization estimates over 10,000 cases of illegal sales of organs in 2010, one organ trafficking incident per hour.
On February 14th the Global Bioethics Initiative, in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the United Nations, will convene a panel of experts to discuss the challenges of combatting organ trafficking in the 21 st Century.
Topics to be addressed include the widespread organ "trade" from executed prisoners and unwilling donors.
