Child forced labor occurs more often in lesser developed countries with weak child labor laws and this blog will focus on the two continents where the mining industry exploits child labor the most: Africa and Asia.
Verite just released their new Fair Hiring Toolkit which offers tools, guidance, and approaches to support the responsible recruitment and hiring of migrant workers in global supply chains. This tool will help producers, suppliers, governments, investors, anti-slavery or labor-rights organizations, social auditors, etc. to protect migrant workers.
WATCH THE TRAILER: The Na Wa Film Festival,organized by UN.GIFT, IOM and the NGO EXIT, will bring to cinemas, cultural centres and churches in Nigeria a series of films and activities to raise awareness about human trafficking. The Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GAATW) is calling for submissions for the Anti-Trafficking Review, a unique new journal examining the field of human trafficking. Academics, practitioners and advocates, working for and with trafficked persons are invited to submit their article proposals by 9 May 2011.
Ihor Hnat, a social worker and former journalist, is a man on a mission. His mission is to put an end to human trafficking. Everyday, he challenges traffickers in Europe by rescuing Ukrainian women that have been trafficked to be sexually exploited in Western Europe. He and his team have already saved 28 trafficking victims.
Targeting an audience where tweets, blogs and posts are the communication medium, My Dangerous Loverboy campaign uses a multi-platform approach to raise awareness about the internal trafficking of teenage girls into the sex trade. The campaign intends to "create content that will engage and challenge teenagers wherever they are consuming media." My Dangerous Loverboy blossomed out of the creation of a short drama film sponsored by the United Kingdom Human Trafficking Centre. Input from young women and front line agencies dealing with human trafficking contributed to the story of the film.
