Body Shop, ECPAT and UN.GIFT  fighting together against Child Trafficking

24 August 2010.- A private sector company and a civil society organization have allied to defeat the vicious crime that affects million of children from around the world. The maker of cosmetic products The Body Shop and ECPAT ( End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and the Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes) are launching a campaign against child trafficking. UN.GIFT is supporting this initiative aiming to involve as many as possible in this plot.

Once upon a Fall of 2009, the Body Shop started a campaign to Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People. Working side by side with ECPAT, the campaign aimed to help the victims or those at risk of trafficking.

Last week, a press conference in Vienna announced the launch of a petition to stop trafficking in children. The objective is to gather as many signatures as possible, in order for the message to reach the ears of the decision-makers.

And the story doesn't end here. Body Shop brought into the fight a weapon: the Soft Hands Kind Heart Cream, that with one sold globally every 30 seconds, has already raised a staggering £1m for charity. Sixty-four countries where Body Shop is present, are involved in this campaign and UN.GIFT is backing up this initiative.
