Human trafficking and corporate responsibility - call for examples

UN Global Compact, ILO and UN.GIFT9 September 2009 - In today's global economy, companies have a corporate responsibility to ensure that their operations and products comply with international human rights standards. For this reason, combating human trafficking is not just a moral issue, it is also a key element of good corporate citizenship.

In March 2009, the UN Global Compact, UN.GIFT and the ILO carried out a private sector survey " Human Trafficking: Everybody's Business. Building on the survey results, UN.GIFT and its partners are developing a publication highlighting good corporate practices to combat human trafficking.

UN.GIFT and the UN Global Compact are requesting examples of company practices in preventing and combating human trafficking. They can include examples of corporate policies, measures to prevent human trafficking in supply chains, measures to raise awareness among staff and consumers, as well as corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Join the fight against human trafficking by sharing examples of how the business community can make a difference and how companies can get involved to help combat human trafficking.
