The images of domestic servitude opening eyes in Geneva

31 May 2010.- Photographs that speak about the plight of trafficked and abused women are a powerful way to evoke the voices of survivors and raise awareness about domestic servitude. The photo exhibition "Esclavage Domestique" opening tomorrow in Geneva, tells the stories of 19 victims of human trafficking and their way out of domestic slavery.

The exhibition  was developed by the French non-governmental organization "Comité contre l'esclavage moderne" which provides direct support to victims of this form of human trafficking (CCEM) and features photographs by Raphaël Dellaporta and text by Ondine Millot.

The exhibition, which was shown at the Vienna International Centre in December 2009, is used in a series of events to raise awareness about the issue of domestic servitude among international and diplomatic staff. The viewing in Geneva is supported by the Permanent Missions of France, Austria and Switzerland to the United Nations and organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights ( OHCHR ) and UN.GIFT. The opening ceremony will take place at the Palais des Nations on 1 June at 18:00 hrs. and the photographs will be exhibited for the next two weeks.
